Terms and Conditions
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
· We, us, our means Doorsmith and Carpentry.
· You, your, client means the person or entity engaging our services.
· Services means all work supplied by us, including door and entry upgrades, smart lock installation, security improvements, and general carpentry services.
· Packages means our fixed-price service offerings advertised on our website or landing pages.
· Carpentry Works means non-package carpentry services, including repairs, adjustments, renovations, and custom work quoted individually.
2. Scope of Services
2.1 We provide professional carpentry services including, but not limited to:
· Front door and entry upgrades.
· Door alignment, tuning, and reinforcement.
· Smart digital lock supply and installation.
· Security-focused door, garage, shed, and access upgrades.
· General residential carpentry and renovation works as quoted.
2.2 Some services are offered as fixed-price packages, while others are custom carpentry works priced by quote.
2.3 We do not provide:
· Emergency or after-hours call-outs unless agreed in writing.
· Ongoing security monitoring.
· CCTV or surveillance installation unless separately agreed and legally permitted.
· Structural building works beyond standard carpentry unless specifically quoted.
2.4 All services are provided within South Australia only.
3. Fixed-Price Packages
3.1 Package prices include:
· Labour required for the stated scope.
· Standard materials and consumables.
· Supply of the specified hardware.
· Installation time based on typical residential conditions.
3.2 Package pricing assumes:
· Reasonable access.
· A serviceable door, frame, and surrounding structure.
3.3 If we discover conditions that materially affect scope or time (for example, hidden damage, severe frame movement, or non-standard construction), we will advise you before proceeding.
3.4 Any work outside the listed package scope is treated as a variation.
4. Quotes for Carpentry and Renovation Work
4.1 Carpentry Works that are not part of a package are quoted individually.
4.2 Quotes are based on information available at the time and may be adjusted if site conditions differ materially.
4.3 Quotes are valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.
5. Payment Terms
5.1 Prices are inclusive of GST unless stated otherwise.
5.2 Payment may be required:
· Upfront via our website or booking page, or
· On completion of work, depending on the service and booking method.
5.3 Where upfront payment is taken, this confirms your booking and acceptance of these Terms.
5.4 Ownership of supplied materials and hardware remains with us until payment is received in full.
5.5 We reserve the right to suspend or cancel work if payment is not made as agreed.
6. Cancellations and Rescheduling
6.1 We require at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a booking.
6.2 Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee to cover lost time, preparation, and travel.
6.3 Refunds for upfront payments will be assessed fairly, taking into account work already completed or costs incurred.
7. Access and Site Conditions
7.1 You must ensure:
· Clear and safe access to the work area.
· Pets, children, and occupants are kept clear during work.
· Reasonable working conditions are available.
7.2 Delays caused by lack of access, site readiness, or client availability may incur additional charges.
8. Variations and Additional Work
8.1 Variations are any works outside the agreed scope.
8.2 Variations will be explained and priced before proceeding.
8.3 Verbal approval on site is sufficient authority to proceed with variations.
9. Hardware, Products, and Warranties
9.1 Manufacturer warranties apply to all supplied products.
9.2 We provide a workmanship warranty covering installation quality and carpentry work performed by us.
9.3 We are not responsible for:
· Manufacturer defects.
· Software, app, or firmware changes.
· Product updates, discontinuation, or third-party service failures.
10. Callbacks and Adjustments
10.1 Minor adjustments relating to our workmanship will be addressed within a reasonable time.
10.2 Adjustments required due to:
· Building movement;
· Seasonal changes;
· Wear and tear;
· Client misuse; or
· Third-party interference
are not covered and may incur additional charges.
11. Limitations of Liability
11.1 To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to:
· Rectifying the affected work, or
· Refunding the amount paid for the affected service.
11.2 We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
11.3 Security upgrades reduce risk but do not guarantee prevention of theft or forced entry.
12. Australian Consumer Law
12.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
12.2 Where services are supplied to a business, guarantees may be limited as permitted by law.
13. Photographs and Records
13.1 We may take photographs for:
· Job records.
· Quality assurance.
· Training purposes.
13.2 Identifying details will not be used publicly without consent.
14. No Structural, Engineering, or Compliance Advice
14.1 Unless expressly stated in writing, we do not provide building certification, engineering advice, structural assessments, or regulatory compliance advice. Any carpentry, door, security, or renovation work is limited to the agreed scope of works only.
14.2 You remain responsible for obtaining any approvals, certifications, or compliance checks required under South Australian law unless we have expressly agreed in writing to do so.
15. Existing Conditions and Hidden Defects
15.1 You acknowledge that many homes contain hidden or non-obvious conditions, including but not limited to prior workmanship, non-standard construction, timber movement, frame distortion, or concealed damage.
15.2 We are not responsible for delays, additional labour, or material costs arising from hidden conditions that could not reasonably be identified prior to commencement.
15.3 Any additional work required as a result of such conditions will be treated as a variation and may incur additional charges.
16. Time Estimates and Completion
16.1 Any timeframes provided for works, whether verbal or written, are estimates only.
16.2 Actual completion time may vary due to site conditions, access limitations, material availability, weather, or client-requested changes.
16.3 A variation in completion time does not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle you to a refund or compensation.
17. Return Visits and Callbacks
17.1 Return visits are included only where an issue arises directly from our workmanship.
17.2 Return visits required due to normal building movement, product wear, environmental factors, manufacturer limitations, or client use are not included and will be chargeable.
17.3 If no workmanship fault is identified, any inspection or return visit may be charged at our standard service rate.
18. Governing Law
18.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia.
18.2 The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of South Australian courts.
19. Acceptance
19.1 By booking, paying, or engaging our services, you confirm that you:
· Have read and understood these Terms.
· Agree to be bound by them.
